In retrospect , the first teacher who completely bowled me over by her teaching tricks and methodologiesis Mrs Tuhina Sanyal. I had a penchant for her classes. We were kept guessing how could she make Physics (VII-X) classes so interesting for all those inquisitive souls sitting in class. In a poll conducted in a social networking community on favourite teacher she emerged as the clear winner. No points for guessing :) I'm sure all AG-ites feel blessed to have a mentor like her. I almost hated Physics in +2 which was my favourite subject in class 10 , And all because there was NO MATCH for Mrs SANYAL.
I was quite unhappy to know Mrs Sanyal wont be our Class Teacher in Class X. I was not alone. The whole Batch of Science-Economics Combination more famously known as X-B was so. We speculated a lot on who could be our class teacher and slaking all our queries it was announced our next class teacher was Mrs Sarbani Bhadrish. We were well acquainted with her. She taught us English in the previous year. I was very very (let me add one more) very afraid of her :). In class 9 Kajari(classmate and very close friend of mine) and me were repeatedly scolded by her. None of the actions were intentional but i somehow managed to mess up everything during her classes :(,but let me tell you she is a gem. I bet not many would be able to get those heavy grammer rules into your head so easily. She often complained I was complacent. Mam I can realise now I was really so. She knew each one of us inside out and always tried to rectify us. Our farewell gift was decided by her. I was puzzled to see a book. Umpteen prompt reactions were " Oh god, again a book". She came to the mike to address us and said "one day you will surely recognize the importance of the book you all are holding." The Book was WORD POWER MADE EASY- NORMAN LEWIS. I am sure mam we were one of the lucky few who got in touch with these books at an early age, all because of you.
I moved on to Class XI-XII. Yes a crucial period which nurtures our career base. I was blessed with an awesome , stupendous , disciplinarian Named Anadi Kundu. Sorry Folks I cant share his image right now. I'll definately add one ASAP. Again i was his ardent fan because of his methodologies. He was a multi-tasker to the core. He gave us notes in two languages while reading a newspaper, that too without asking where he had stopped. He also unfolded all interesting news he came across during the venture. I respect and owe him a lot. He instilled a lot of confidence in me. He was a source of inspiration. He made Chemistry as lucid n clear as a crystal.Thank you sir, thanks a lot. We really need teachers like you as mentors for this young crowd. He never gave us a day-off.We celebrated his birthday in tution class (I still remember its 12th DEC) to ensure a holiday. This dedicated soul never let that happen. He taught us after those celebrations but gave us all splendid treats.
During my graduation days i was lucky enough to be taught by Proffs like Dr Soumitra Banerjee and Dr Nityanandya Roy. Presently in my post graduation I'm just loving lectures by Proff Arin Ghosh :-),though the whole bunch of faculty is a powerhouse of knowledge. He makes each class as interactive as possible , quotes examples which we can easily relate to, gives us something to take home to think about besides homework. To cut the long story short every word this man utters is of immense value to us. Only 2 months into MBA and i am already a big fan of Prof Arin Ghosh.I hope to add on about this man as my journey continues :-)
Now if i were told to choose the one person who whose tremendous act of being a friend philosopher and guide helped me to overcome all the tough tasks that i faced till date is none other than my very own sister Priyanka Ray. A wonderful person to the core who selflessly work hard to push me through any dark moments I come across. She is my idol , my accomplice in all legal crimes, someone who reads my mind inside out no matter where on earth she is. She is my strength when i am weak. I ,among all men and women, am most richly blessed to have a sister like her.
It was not possible to write about many others who are also my source of inspiration and my sincere apologies for that. This Teachers Day I choose this platform to say "thank you" to all (i repeat All ) the teachers i have ever come across.Life would never have been the same without you all. HAPPY TEACHERS' DAY 2010.

Tithi ...I couldn't agree more with the first para .....I loved Physics and I started disliking it in XI-XII just because of the way it was taught ....I so wish I had Mrs. Sanyal for those crucial years .....and I loved the ending ...
ReplyDeleteYep Priyasmita Di..dats exactly what happened in my +2...n thanks :-D
ReplyDeleteI so very agree with u Tithi what u said about Ms Sanyal...In my +2 it was a huge disappointment bcoz no one had the capability of making Physics seem actually so Easy !! But for me Ms Sanyal had already done her bit and I was so much in love with the subject I decided to follow it for graduation. It was in JU that I realized that there are so many gems when it comes to teaching physics and I consider myself very lucky to be trained by such great Profs till my masters...
ReplyDeleteFor me Physics is a very romantic subject...and the romance and fantacy is woven by the majicians called teachers..
